I was asked to create a wish list which would be included in our website. As I sat down with pen in hand, I was ever so confident that the task could easily be accomplished. How could I have ever been so mistaken!

The needs of the animals range from water tubs to stainless food preparation containers; from galvanized nails to all sizes of treated lumber. There is no end to all that is needed to create comfortable environments and spacious habitats. The needed office supplies include paper, pens, and file folders.

I'd like to include a plea for funds for building additional habitats. The lions which we received from Reno, Nevada are in serious need of a new enclosure. We built their enclosure out of old, used wire and poles. Recently I've moved them into a much smaller enclosure, and we've started ripping down their old habitat.

Also, there are now twelve monkeys here, and EARS desperately needs funding for new and larger enclosures for those monkeys. Of course we are enormously grateful for any and all help.

It would be wonderful if we could have an affordable used forklift or bobcat in good or repairable condition. It would be immensely appreciated. All of our meat has always been moved by hand from delivery to the freezer and daily from the freezer to our food prep area.

Even though the tiny bush babies seem so insignificant, they are truly just as deserving and important as a 700 pound big cat. We now have additional primates at the sanctuary. FFWCC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) recently placed two black-cap capuchins here. Also FFWCC placed an adorable squirrel monkey here. As if that weren't enough, a little boy marmoset has found a home at EARS. The marmoset, Mr. Peepers, was voluntarily given up by his former owner as Mr. Peepers had outgrown his usefulness with his human family. There truly seems to be NO end to the numbers of animals needing a home in which they are able to receive all the love and attention they truly deserve.

Every single day, EARS receives telephone calls from individuals who, for one reason or another, are no longer able (capable) of caring for their domestic pets. Within the past 24 hours we have received calls concerning homes needed for 10 dogs. We also still house dogs from Hurricane Katrina which could not be placed so we are always in need of dog food.

If you have any supplies which you wish to donate to the well-being of the animals, please call me at 352-595-2959.

My sincerest thanks,

Gail
