E.A.R.S.Endangered Animal Rescue Sanctuary

Our Motto: "Preserving with dignity"

EARS is a not-for-profit organization that exists specifically to provide permanent homes for unwanted and/or abused endangered animals.  We also rescue animals that are in need of help. From tigers, lions and cougars to bears and monkeys... we have them all (over 200 in fact!).  We rely soley upon the support of the public through donations to keep EARS in operation. There are many ways you can help, from purchasing EARSgear, to adopting one of the many tigers, lions or cougars...

Founded in 2001 by Jaye Perrett and Gail Bowen, EARS is providing excellent living conditions for previously malnourished, abused and even abandoned big cats.  Many people limit their understanding of big cats by the fears they hold that have been instilled by movie productions, circus trainers being brutally attacked and the media coverage that is focused on negative publicity.  What you don't see is the abuse, starvation and unfit working and living conditions that exist behind the scenes. EARS challenges you to reach past your doubts and fears and get to know the truth about big cats. We offer pictures of these cats at their rescue & months later living happily at EARS. They came to us starved, sick and helpless. Now they are self-sufficient, healthy and absolutely beautiful.

LATEST NEWS:

Mar 16, 2010:  (Posted By: Gail)  Now that the weather has resumed 'bearable' conditions, the bears of EARS are coming out of their semi-hibernation mode. They're all splashing around in their pools, and are back to eating like crazy. The oldest bear (Mama Bear) is moving a little slowly, but with plenty of food and room to roam, she'll be fine and dandy. The youngest, Ruby is even feeling the effects of warmer temperatures.

Jan 19, 2010:  (Posted By: Gail)  On Sunday morning I discovered a huge oak tree had fallen on one of the two cougar enclosures. Even though there was a big gap, where the wire had split, both cougars were still enclosed. Sue was here, and we called on the cell phones, for volunteers to come here to assist. Morgen and I entered the enclosure (with the cougars) and we wove dog leashes and ropes to close the gap, which could have effected their escape. We then forced the two cougars into their lockdown area. I then called our FFWCC officer, and informed her of what had happened. All is well now, however it was a pretty bad experience. All this means we'll need funds to repair the damage. Of course, ideally, we would have ALL the oak trees "topped", so the enormous weight would not cause them to fall.
